Overview

NHSP in Sindh is a crucial initiative driving comprehensive primary healthcare (PHC) reforms to strengthen health systems and improve health and nutrition outcomes. This is achieved through a three-pronged strategy: aligning PHC to deliver a high-quality benefits package with demand generation and supply-side readiness; establishing integrated approaches for PHC service delivery in financing, human resources, and information systems; and addressing inadequate PHC funding and weak public financial management. By integrating essential services at PHC facilities, NHSP ensures efficient resource utilization, providing vital basic healthcare services to mothers and children. These efforts are fundamental to strengthening primary healthcare and advancing Sindh’s journey towards Universal Health Coverage.

Strengthening Primary Health Care
Key Priority areas

To ensure everyone has access to essential health services, we are committed to improving the quality and equitable delivery of care at the community and primary health care (PHC) levels. Our program targets the following prioritized areas:

Transforming Healthcare
at the Grassroots Level

NHSP Sindh is dedicated to strengthening every layer of primary healthcare through targeted, high-impact areas. Our approach is people-centric, data-driven, and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

NHSP Public Private Partnership

Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) are a cornerstone of our strategy to revolutionize primary healthcare (PHC) service delivery in Sindh. Our PPPs actively support innovations and policy reforms, employing an input-based approach to enhance the overall efficiency, and effectiveness of the provincial health sector. These partnerships ensure not only the availability of critical human, physical (medicines, equipment, supplies, vaccines, transport, logistics), and financial resources, but also the vital strengthening of support systems such as manuals, protocols, robust monitoring, supportive supervision, and accurate data recording within the health department.

Sustainable Development Goal 3.8 Achieve Universal Health Coverage

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) means ensuring everyone has access to the quality health services they need. Precisely when and where they need them, without suffering financial hardship from healthcare costs. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 3.8 is tracked through two key metrics: the coverage of essential health services (SDG indicator 3.8.1), which assesses how many people are receiving the care they require, and catastrophic health spending (SDG indicator 3.8.2), which monitors the financial burden health costs place on households. Together, these indicators provide a comprehensive picture of progress in making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all.
